The audio format we convert your CDs to determines both the quality of your audio and the size of the file. For great sounding portable files, choose MP3, AAC, WMA, or OGG. For perfect CD quality audio, choose a lossless format like FLAC, WMA-Lossless, or WAV. We recommend MP3 for portability and compatibility and FLAC for lossless audio.
Bitrate is easy - the higher the bitrate, the larger the file size, the better the sound quality. 192 kbps is great for MP3 and AAC files to go on an iPod or phone, and 320 kbps is great for both portable devices and home audio systems. Lossless formats don't need a bitrate - easy!
A second format is great so you can have a high quality, lossless format for your computer and home and a smaller format for your portable needs
